I have a confession to make. I’ve never gotten along well in a corporate setting. If you knew me at one of my previous places of work, you might not have known this, because from the outside it seemed as though I got along fine. The truth was, I was miserable. And that’s why I have shucked it all. Now, I’m doing it my way.

Seven and a half years ago, I decided to start a business. It gave me flexibility to be home with my crazy young teenagers. I both enjoyed that and saw it as a necessity to keep them safe and healthy. It also suited my work style. I could work any hours, barefoot, with plenty of snacks on hand.

Some time ago, I realized my rebelliousness had worked itself into a real direction based on my personality and all it’s good and bad qualities. I still work late at night and keep snacks nearby. However, it’s gone deeper than that.

With help from a number of mentors and a formal business coach at Leadership Resources, I discovered I have a passion for several things that have recently gelled into an amazing and wonderful Plan, with a capital “P”.

Now, I’m getting ready to head out on a long trip that’s part of my plan. Over the next two to three months, I’ll be on the road, visiting clients, family and friends to test a theory.

Now that my children are gone from home, and I sold my house, and I am no longer married, I believe I might find my greatest motivation–and my greatest happiness–as a modern day gypsy. I am energized by constantly changing scenery, unfolding roads before me, new people and the challenges of change.

What great things might I write for my clients and myself if I give in to this wanderlust? It’s my time to find out.

I will be sharing what I learn here. One goal is to gather marketing and writing ideas from the people I meet in my travels. Another goal is to explore what makes people good at what they do. If you think these things will help you, I hope you’ll follow along and take advantage of the free information.

I’ll also be keeping a personal steam of consciousness blog about the quirky things I see and think and feel as I follow my nose through Florida, across the South to Texas, and finally to Arizona. I’m no dummy…it’s freezing here, and 80 degrees on the golf courses down there! When I get the personal blog set up, I’ll share a link.

More to come soon, from the road, going my way.
