I have less than 48 hours before I leave on my 4,000-mile trip to Florida, Texas and Arizona! I’m getting butterflies in my stomach. I’ve talked myself out of it at least twice, and one of our destinations fell through. We came up with a great plan B. That’s the way it goes on the road, right? There is always something you can do about it when things go wrong. I’m going to have to remember that when I’m out there unrolling the road before me as I drive.

I’ve been packing for the last two days. I have a tub for food, one for toiletries and two for office supplies and files. Tonight, my IT guy (Todd Messing of SirkDot) delivered my loaded new ASUS Zenbook–an ultrabook very similar to the Macbook. I decided to go with a PC to give me flexibility if I decide to modify my system. It’s too hard to do that with a Mac. Also, if you want to change  something in a Mac, it can cost an arm and a leg. Sorry, Mr. Maly! I know you love Macs, but please don’t let this come between us.  :)

If you need a new IT company to service your technology, please consider SirkDot. I have never been happier with the service and above-and-beyond concern for my computing needs.

So far, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this computer.  It has a solid state internal drive, which makes the whole thing about as light as a nice leather notebook. In fact, it came with a leather-like envelope/sleeve that will be cooler than snot to carry into board rooms.

The case of the computer is brushed aluminum. It’s 3mm at the front edge when it’s closed and only 9mm at the back. Man! I feel like I’m living in the space age.

I worked hard to make this computer happen before I left for the road, because I’m a big believer in staying up to date with technology. Maybe it sounds conceited. I don’t mean it to. I just know that having the latest technology seems to give clients a solid sense that I know what I’m doing. I suppose they figure if I have it together enough to get on board with the newest business tools, I must be able to handle a few measly little words. (Little do they know how complicated the words can be, right?)

So, I’m in good shape with the computer, my iPad, my iPhone, an AC adapter for the car outlet, a teapot for heating hot water in the car, and all my tubs. Look out world, here I come!
